The Joe Espy Needs Based Scholarship is provided to University of Alabama students to alleviate financial hardships.
The Battle of the Bands fundraiser was hosted by SGA, APA, and IFC. The championship of this competition took place on October 20th, 2022 at Druid City Music Hall. Four bands (Poundcake, Amberwave, Midnight Steel, and The Wheelers) comprised of UA Students competed for the title of “Best Band in Tuscaloosa 2022”. These four bands were voted to move on to the championship by students at the second round of the fundraiser at Druid City Social on September 29th. All proceeds from the event will go to the Joe Espy SGA Needs Based Scholarship. This scholarship is utility based, so students can apply to help pay for rent, car payments, etc.
The winner of the Final Round of Battle of the Bands was Midnight Steel! The band won a cash prize of $2,000, and the event raised nearly $7,500 for the Joe Espy Needs Based Scholarship.
