Candidacy Filing Information

The Candidacy Filing Period for students interested in running for an elected SGA position is January 30 – February 4, 2024, and that the deadline to submit the Application & Statement of Candidacy is 11:59 p.m. CST on Sunday, February 4, 2024. As part of the application, students are asked to submit the following:

  • Candidate Information
    • GPA, Hours Earned, Classification, etc.
  • Declaration of Campaign Team
    • Campaign Manager
    • Campaign Top 5
  • Honors & Activities
    • List of on-campus involvement and recognition
  • Statement of Intent
    • Limited to 250 words for Senate candidates and 350 words for Executive candidates
    • The statement must answer the following questions:
      • Who are you? (Includes basic information, campus involvement, etc.)
      • Why are you running?
      • What is your platform?
  • Candidate Headshot
    • Posted on the Candidates web page
    • File format must be either a PDF or Image (JPEG, PNG, etc.)
  • Preliminary Financial Disclosure
  • Campaign Agreement & FERPA Release
    • An electronic signature is required to complete submission

Once a student submits their application, they along with their campaign manager, will receive an email with instructions to register for one of the Mandatory Orientation Meeting for Candidates and Campaign Managers offered in-person and virtually the week of February 5-9, 2024. The orientation sessions will cover the election timeline, candidacy requirements, and the election guidelines, of which include campaign regulations and expectations of certified candidates and campaign teams.
