Karina Collins

Hello everyone! My name is Karina Collins, and I am excited to declare my candidacy for the College of Human Environmental Sciences Senate. I am an undergraduate student majoring in Public Health with a minor in Global and Cultural Perspectives. During my first year, I have greatly enjoyed my time at The Capstone, but have also seen areas that we as a community could greatly improve on. I hope to use my knowledge from my involvement in organizations such as the UA NAACP and Bama Hands in Health to bring a new perspective to our legislation. Throughout my campaign I will focus on three issues:

Undergraduate Mentorship Program
With an undergraduate mentorship program, we could bridge the gap between undergraduate and postgraduate education, along with introducing mentors to students seeking guidance on how to take that next step in their future careers.

Advancing Dining Hall Options for Dietary Restrictions:
From what I have seen and heard from peers across campus, the dining halls have little to no options for vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten-free, and lactose-intolerant individuals. If elected, I will work with the Division of Finance and Operations: Enterprise Operations to implement more dietary adhering cuisine.

Increase Recruitment and Hiring for POC Faculty/Staff:
If elected, I plan to work with Academic Affairs and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to recruit faculty/staff from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions.

Thank you, and I hope on March 8th you choose to #ClimbWithCollins!

Emma Fraley

My name is Emma Fraley, I am from Fayetteville, TN and majoring in Interior Design. I am running for Human Environmental Sciences Senate seat because I believe I can make a positive difference by working collaboratively with all UA students, faculty, and administration.

I have been very intentional with my time at UA and have actively participated in University Honors College, my Sorority and BABH Outreach Committee. As a Senator, I look forward to being a part of a productive dialogue that has a positive impact on my college. I want to be a voice for my peers by making sure all are heard and appropriately represented both on campus and in the future. I would like to develop a cross-training program within Business and Communication schools to help prepare HES students for self-employment. I will also work with Alumni association to build out a network of graduates willing to mentor/apprentice current students and organized by their major. I will also work diligently with other members of SGA to improve the campus experience now and for the future.

#ForwardWithFraley on March 8th!

Jolie Golden

My name is Jolie Golden and I am a freshman from Dothan, Alabama, double majoring in Apparel and Textiles and Marketing. I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for Senator of the College of Human Environmental Sciences. While at the University of Alabama, I have had the opportunity to be involved in various leadership positions within my greek organization. In high school, I was involved with the Student Government Association where I learned how to be an ambassador for the student body. This experience has given me the skills that qualify me for this position. As a part of my platform I would like to be a liaison for the students in the College of Human Environmental Sciences by making sure their ideas and concerns are heard. I would accomplish this goal by creating a place for students to voice these concerns about their college. Another point of my platform is making course required supplies available on campus. Some of the courses within the College of Human Environmental Sciences require supplies that can not be purchased on campus at the Supe Store. This will make it more convenient for students who do not have transportation to off campus locations to purchase their class supplies. Lastly, I am excited for the opportunity to represent the College of Human Environmental Sciences and please remember to #GoForTheGold on March 8th!

Andrea Kugler

Hi, my name is Andrea Kugler and today I am honored to announce my candidacy for Senator for the College of Human Environmental Sciences. I currently am a junior from Bella Vista, Arkansas majoring in Public Health with minors in Spanish, Public Policy, and Global Health. On campus I am a member of many organizations such as Project Health Peer Health Education Internship, Hands in Health, The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, Phi Sigma Pi honors fraternity, Order of Omega Greek honors society, and I currently serve as the Director of Finance for Greek Programming Board. Running as an independent candidate for a senate seat I hope to act as a voice for students on campus to make sure the university is an open and diverse place to be celebrated. Using my passions for health education and public policy I hope to bring better awareness to issues facing the well-being of the UA campus community. I am looking to work with this outstanding student body to better the Capstone through improved alcohol and drug prevention programming for new students and developing it into a course of action for students throughout their time at the Capstone including improving the recognition of the harm of driving under the influence. I want to also involve better mental health awareness as well as introduce better recognition of the services offered through the University of Alabama and in the Tuscaloosa community available for students and faculty.
